 Haybales . . .

Today on my way to woodwork, I delivered the haybales that I had knitted for Megan and her children. As the wool was quite fluffy, I had to knit the bales rather than crochet them. In order for them to retain a bale shape, I inserted a wooden block into bale before I finished sewing them up. As the wool knitted up quite thickly, they didn't feel hard. In addition to the bales, I also turned a silo for their wee farm. Even though I found an image of a silo online and after I had finished it, Bruce informed me that I had copied an American silo not a New Zealand one lol. However, Megan's children were blissfully happy with it, regardless of its shape.

I looked online for a children's rhyme about haybales and sadly there weren't any, but I found this great book that describes the making of bales for children. Megan had to put up with a rhyme that I made up instead - poor children.!!

Megan sent photos of the children playing with the bales. I'm so happy that they are enjoying playing with them.
