Busy Day On The Farm . . .
Today we had our last truckful of firewood delivered. Bruce is also going to retire soon, so that means he will finally have the time to be able to fell our own firewood trees. He will start this winter and then it will have time to dry ready to burn next year. The pile of wood was a little daunting, however throughout the day I managed to throw three quarters of it into the shed. I would have loved to have finished the job, the spirit was willing but the body was complaining. I often forget that I have aged a little bit. Finney kept an eye on me to make sure I was doing a good job.
You will have seen boxes in the front of the shed. Bruce bought home some cardboard sheets from a building that was being demolished at his work. I had used some of it for children to safely build high structures with. Now I have retired there was still two sheets left, so using a sharp knife I have cut them into small pieces. These I will use as firelighters. I won’t need to buy firelighters this year. Another saving on the ever growing grocery bill.
